The National Restaurant Association Education Foundation has earned a 2018 ASAE Power of A Gold Award for five programs that support the industry’s workforce development, food safety, and employability skills training initiatives.
ASAE honored NRAEF for the following programs:
ProStart® is a national high-school career and technical education program that offers industry certificates in culinary arts and restaurant management and is offered at more than 1,800 schools with an enrollment of nearly 140,000 students.
Restaurant Ready is a partnership with five community-based organizations to provide “opportunity youth” with basic skills training and restaurant and foodservice job opportunities.
The Military initiative provides servicemen and women with guidance and training on transitioning their skills to restaurant and foodservice jobs and careers. The program spans all branches of the U.S. Military and also connects spouses and family members to restaurant jobs.
Their scholarships provide more than $750,000 in financial assistance each year to over 250 students, educators and individuals pursuing culinary arts, restaurant management and hospitality degrees as well as technical certifications.
The Restaurant & Hotel Management Apprenticeship program is the restaurant and hospitality industry’s first ever earn-while-you-learn registered apprenticeship program. Developed for the U.S. Department of Labor, the program was launched in 2017 in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Association and currently has more than 500 apprentices enrolled. This program is expanding to include active-duty military service members.
ASAE’s Power of A (association) Awards, the industry’s highest honor, recognize the association community’s valuable contributions on the local, national and global levels.
