ASAE is collecting stories about how the taxation of royalty income would impact associations, with the goal of sharing those specific examples with Senate offices prior to next week’s expected floor vote.
ASAE has been working to change a provision in the Senate tax bill that would subject royalty income derived from the licensing of an organization’s name and logo to unrelated business income tax (UBIT). ASAE has maintained that royalties are a significant source of non-dues revenue for associations that can be reinvested in education, skills training, standard-setting, research and other mission-driven activities.
To share your royalty income story with ASAE, please fill out this online form by Friday, Nov. 24.
Senate leaders have said more changes to the bill are likely when the bill is debated by the full Senate just after the Thanksgiving break.
