Twenty-one organizations have been recognized with an Award of Excellence in the spring round of judging for the 2010 Associations Advance America (AAA) Award program, sponsored by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership.
Now in its 20th year, the AAA Awards program recognizes associations and industry partners that improve the quality of life in America with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service.
These programs will join the thirteen selected in the fall round of judging to be considered for an ASAE Summit Award, ASAE & The Center’s highest association honor. The six 2010 Summit Awards will be presented at the 2010 Summit Awards dinner on September 29 at the National Building Museum.
In addition to the 21 Award of Excellence winners, 34 programs were named to the AAA Honor Roll. These programs, while not eligible for a 2010 Summit Award, show the importance of associations and their members to society.
The following programs are 2010 AAA Award of Excellence winners for the spring deadline:
AAA Award Deadline is May 3
In the past four months, has your organization:
- Run a campaign to improve the local community?
- Used your members’ or profession’s expertise to address a national problem?
- Helped with the relief efforts in Haiti or Chile?
- Conducted a program at the local, state, or international level that shows how associations are advancing America?
If you can answer yes to any of the above, then apply for a AAA Award today!
The Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards are given to exemplary programs that associations and nonprofits conduct every day that improve our communities and make the world a better place.
You can read more about our previous award winners online, but the most important two details to know are (1) your association should be recognized for the good it does through its community programs, and (2) the deadline for submission is Monday, May 3. You can apply for your AAA Award at www.asaecenter.org/aaaawards.

Thirteen organizations have been recognized with an Award of Excellence in the first round of judging for the 2010 Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards program, sponsored by ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership.
Now in its 20th year, the AAA Awards program recognizes associations and industry partners that improve the quality of life in America with innovative programs in education, skills training, standard setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community service.
Selected by a panel of peers twice per year, Award of Excellence winners of two separate judging rounds are automatically entered into consideration for the Summit Award, ASAE & The Center’s highest association honor. Summit Award winners will be honored at ASAE & The Center’s Summit Awards Dinner, September 29 in Washington, DC.
“The winners of the first round of the 2010 judging represent a diverse group of programs and initiatives from a wide range of backgrounds,” said Ping Wei, M. Ed., CAE, director of educational activities for the American Society of Civil Engineers and chair of ASAE & The Center’s Associations Advance America Committee. “That’s what I think makes this a very special program. It underlines the importance of our organizations and their work in communities throughout the country. The first round was tough with lots of excellent entries and I’m looking forward to the second round of judging of other outstanding programs.”
Any association is eligible to enter the AAA Awards. The deadline for the second round is April 23, 2010.
The following programs were honored with a 2010 AAA Award of Excellence:
This Friday is the deadline for associations to submit their programs for the ASAE & The Center Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards. Don’t lose out on your opportunity to have your association recognized for the good work it does for society!
The Power of A often posts examples of programs that benefit society, but we want your associations to receive more than a post on this site: we want your association to be honored for its work and receive recognition from the entire association community.
That is the purpose of the ASAE Associations Advance America (AAA) Awards: recognition of association programs that propel American forward - with innovative projects in skills training and development; ethical, technical or professional standards; economic development; business and social innovation; information and knowledge creation; public education and information; civic and community volunteer activities; and citizenship and democracy enhancement.
In the current economy individuals and the government are more reliant than ever on nonprofits organizations to perform important social services and advocacy campaigns. Your association is doing exactly that - why not take a few moments to enter it for a AAA Award? Six of the AAA Award winners at the end of the year will be recognized as Summit Award winners - the highest honor that can be given to an association program.
Join associations like the Iowa Dental Association, Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, and the School Nutrition Association in submitting your association’s contribution to society for an award.
