ASAE is among the many organizations that have donated funds to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean in the aftermath of two serious hurricanes, Harvey and Irma. Associations often come to the aid of communities in need, and this is no different.
According to the Center for International Disaster Information, a part of the United States Agency for International Development, sending money is almost always the most efficient way to help disaster victims.
Here are ways in which you can help:
The Red Cross is asking people to donate money on its web site or to text 90999 to donate $10 or more. The group is also organizing volunteers.
The crowdfunding site GlobalGiving is also working to raise funds to provide emergency supplies such as food, water and medicine to survivors of the storms in addition to longer-term recovery efforts. GlobalGiving prioritizes the funding of local organizations best positioned to meet immediate needs for food, water, fuel and shelter, but also supports longer-term recovery efforts by vetted organizations responding to the disaster.
Charity Navigator also has compiled a list of trusted charitable organizations for hurricane relief.
America is stronger by association.
