American Legal & Financial Network – Facilitating New Opportunities for Young Professionals
American Legal & Financial Network earned a 2015 ASAE Power of A Gold Award for its Junior Professionals and Executives Group (JPEG), a young professionals network created to help legal staff under 40 years of age gain exposure and opportunities to career-building relationships.
ASAE honored the program which helps young professionals who experience few volunteer opportunities at the national level. Because there is fierce competition for the few positions that offer career development and exposure, JPEG coordinates networking mixers, teleconferences and publishes an annual profile of emerging leaders. The group also operates as a platform for members to access other leadership roles within the association and to position themselves as subject matter experts through authorship and education. There is also a strong mentorship component to the program.
Greater Washington Society of CPAs – Fulfilling a Need for Nonprofits
Greater Washington Society of CPAs earned a 2015 ASAE Power of A Gold Award for its Nonprofit Accounting Basics program, a comprehensive online resource addressing matters of financial accountability for the nonprofit community. Its goal is to provide a reliable, current reference portal for small and midsized nonprofits to address basic accounting questions and to help staffs, boards, and consultants to better explain and understand compliance requirements.
ASAE honored the program which was created to serve a simple yet profound idea: The single most valuable asset of every nonprofit organization is public trust. The many CPAs among the association’s membership who work in the nonprofit sector believe that accountability should be a top priority in order to preserve the trust capital they possess and to better serve their missions. Launched publicly in late 2009, the website provides tools, templates, and background information regarding governance and management, as well as links to other related resources.
National Business Officers Association – Identifying Best Practices for Success
National Business Officers Association earned a 2015 ASAE Power of A Gold Award for its Spectrum Research Project, created to help members weather economic crises following the economic downturn of 2009.
ASAE honored the program, which addressed the impact the economic downturn had on independent schools, as evidenced by declining enrollment levels, diminished endowments, greater demand for financial aid and downsized staffing. The project aligned expertise and resources to identify the key characteristics and leadership behaviors of schools that had consistently demonstrated financial strength over a sustained period and through all economic climates alike. NBOA’s leadership embarked on a mission during the “recovery” year of 2013 to help its members weather the inevitable economic crises that could likely follow sometime in the future.
Congratulations from ASAE, and thank you for filling a vital need, as well as raising the visibility for how the association community enriches the lives of people every day.
