ASAE announced this week the recipients of its 2013 Summit Awards, the highest honor ASAE gives to associations working to create a stronger America and the world.

The six organizations will be recognized and accept their award during the Summit Awards Dinner Oct. 1 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

The winners were selected by the Power of A Awards Judging Committee, which received more than 70 applications this year. The awards are part of The Power of A campaign, which ASAE launched in 2009 to increase awareness about the wealth of knowledge and resources in the association community with policymakers and other audiences.

“It’s always extremely inspiring to see the many ways in which associations work to enrich lives and assist communities around the world. This year’s Summit Award winners provide exceptional examples of associations going above and beyond their organizational mission to make America and the world a better place to live,” said Christie Tarantino, CAE, president and CEO of the Association Forum of Chicagoland and chairman of The Power of A Awards Judging Committee.

The six Summit Award winners are: American Society of Hematology, Program: The ASH Bridge Grant Award Program; Central Arizona Dental Society, Program: Arizona Mission of Mercy; Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc., Program: Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Los Angeles; Edison Electric Institute, Program: EEI Mutual Assistance Partnership; National Safe Boating Council, Program: ‘Ready, Set, Wear It!’ Life Jacket World Record Day; and Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Program: The Annual Leadership Institute.

In addition to the six Summit Award winners, the Power of A Awards Judging Committee selected four association programs to receive a Power of A Gold Award and seven associations to receive a Power of A Silver Award.

ASAE’s Summit Awards Dinner will bring together association executives, industry partners and business and community leaders for an evening to celebrate the value of associations and their impact on society.
