How We’ve Improved the Power of A Page

If you are reading this story, you no doubt have noticed that the Power of A website looks a little different. Based on feedback we’ve received from association members and social media experts, we have implemented some changes to make the website more user friendly and interactive.

ASAE spoke with a number of association social media practitioners and consultants to discern how the campaign can better use social media. In addition, during the Power of A week, we informally surveyed a wide-range of association executives, staff, and volunteers to determine what they needed from the Power of A. The changes implemented are not meant to be the last ones done, but a first step in a more interactive direction.

The home page of the site immediately looks different after you see the introductory video and language. On the bottom left is a section called “Power of A Stories”. Throughout the year ASAE will be shooting videos and interviews with associations across the country who will share how they use the Power of A campaign or how their association is changing society and improving the economy. When the inaugural class of Power of A Award winners are selected, videos from some of the winners will be posted, as well as the professional videos created for the Summit Award winners. If your association has a video on a program or project you are running, share it with us and we’ll make sure people know about it on this part of the website. You’ll also notice you can easily share videos with one click using a number of popular social media sites.

The middle section has two components. The first is the Power of A Twitter feed, where people can see not only ASAE’s Tweets but Tweets of people using the #pwra hashtag. The bottom part is our news feed, where you can see the latest stories and blog posts on the site. Check out the policy issues that are impacting all associations or read stories about the ways associations are implementing the PWRA message.

The right side panel is simply a new and easier way to show that you support the Power of A. Grab the Power of A widget or badge and add it to your website – it could not be any easier. Clicking this link will also show the other ways you can participate in the Power of A campaign, things like sample social media messages and finding other associations in your state.

As always let us know what you think and how you think we can improve the campaign site.  Email us at publicpolicy@asaenet.org, call us at (202) 626-2703 or Tweet using the #pwra hashtag.
