Our organization started over 160 years ago when a group of concerned physicians came to Raleigh to meet with representatives of the General Assembly because charlatans were disguising themselves as physicians and were bringing harm to North Carolina citizens.

As a result the NCMS was created, which helped create a Medical licensing board and a department of public health and has advocated for Public health initiatives ever since.

The Society also helps physicians practices maneuver through these turbulent times by providing practice management expertise and as a result gainfully employs thousands of our citizens not withstanding all of the other positive initiatives that our undertaken on behalf of physicians and their patients on an ongoing basis.
